Phantom Lords “Temple Of Metal”
Steelheart Records
by Rob “Ezy” Bone
To anyone who thinks that the Heavy Metalworld has been lately suffocated by pompous and cheesy euro-Metal, that’s a good album to keep on believing that true Power Metal is still alive. These five young guys from Italy are not the typical Stratovarius or Helloweenclones, yet their influences speak clear through the 11 tracks of “Temple Of Metal” (the title says it all): Iron Maiden, Manowar, Judas Priest and Metallica are definetely there, with the latest also covered on the classic “Master Of Puppets” (featured as european bonus-track). On a track like “Thirsting For Vengeance” Phantom Lords take on Manowar at their own game, and “Run Insane” shows this familiar Maiden-esque double-guitar work. The productions sounds ‘80s as well, so... if you suddenly feel the call of your beloved old vinyls, then, you can get this Cd, instead, and the vibe will be the same!
